Purpose
To help executives responsible for coaching your organization’s coaches:

  • Create alignment around coaching practices and frequencies
  • Apply best practices for coaching coaches
  • Strengthen coaching action plans to drive behavior change throughout the sales and service organization
  • Develop strategies to ensure successful coaching implementations

This two-module, facilitator-led coaching workshop—which is conducted by an Omega Performance Consultant—enables executives and senior managers to coach your organization’s coaches more effectively for greater sales and service results. 

Coach the Coach is a highly interactive workshop. It melds real-work situations with Omega Performance’s coaching best practices, models, and assessments to illustrate application in the real world of service and sales. Coach the Coach features videotaped skill practice in which each participant has the option to coach an actual direct report. During the practice, participants apply a high-impact coaching process that has been proven to change employee behavior and enhance performance outcomes. 

Each participant is provided with coaching tools on a CD for use back on the job.

What Is Included
Coach the Coach includes the following:

The Coach-the-Coach Process

Topic 1: Overview

  • Identify challenges participants are either experiencing or anticipating in coaching their coaches
  • Link challenges identified to the workshop content

Topic 2: Why Coach Coaches?

  • Discuss the two key reasons coaching can fail
  • Discuss recommended frequencies for coach the coach

Topic 3: Coaching Accountability

  • Review the Coaching Styles Continuum and map the participants’ coaches on the continuum
  • Discuss the important characteristics and behaviors exemplified by effective coaches
  • Review the coach-the-coach activities and process before, during, and after the coaching session
  • Practice scheduling coaching routines and frequencies
  • Explain and practice the pre-coaching protocol
  • Explain what to look for when coaching for process and when coaching for content, and when each is appropriate
  • Discuss best practices for observing a coaching session
  • Discuss best practices for conducting a coach-the-coach session

Topic 4: Action Planning

  • Explain the impact of Action Plans in driving change
  • Explain and develop "SMART" Action Plans that are:
    • Specific
    • Measurable
    • Accountability for follow-up assigned
    • Realistic but with "Reach"
    • Time-specific
  • Practice correcting and creating “SMART” Action Plans

Practicing Coach the Coach

Topic 5: Videotaped Skill Practice—Coaching the Coach

  • Conduct a coach-the-coach session that following the Coaching Model and produces a “SMART” Action Plan

    Options:
    1. Participants watch a video of a coaching session, and then plan a coach-the coach session with the coach from the video
    2. Participants arrange to have an actual direct report coach participate,       either by phone or in person

Topic 6: Coach-the-Coach Action Planning

  • Produce "SMART" Action Plans to integrate what has been learned into management activities
  • Evaluate Action Plans to ensure that they are "SMART"
